All things BLUE

Keywords that could be used for the colour blue; peace, moody, cold, antiseptic, soothing, depressing and relaxing. Blue is one of the three primary colours.

The English language is quite colourful. For the colour blue, it can be very expressive when we shut down our emotions.

Expressing our feelings and emotions in terms of ‘Feeling blue’. ‘Once in a blue moon’. No wonder the organisation for helping those who have personal experience of depression, anxiety or a related disorder (including bipolar disorder, postnatal depression and co-existing substance use or chronic physical illness) is named ‘Beyond Blue’

As it is the antidote to red, the blue colour is very effective in colour therapy. It’s effective in easing childhood diseases, along with asthma, chicken-pox, jaundice and rheumatism

In the chakra system the blue colour is positioned on the spine at the level of the throat. Here we experience the sense of solitude. It is a vital link between expression and thought. It represents the ability communicate with the world around us.

It can be gentle and caring. When there is a poor flow of energy in this region you may be over-critical of others and disrespectful of other's opinions.

When this chakra is under-active, you tend not to speak much, and you probably are introverted and shy. Not speaking the truth may block this chakra. If this chakra is over-active, you tend to speak too much, usually to domineer and keep people at a distance.

Most throat conditions fall into two categories: those who don't speak up for themselves and those who have too much to say. The two extremes seem to affect one's health. The throat chakra governs the thyroid, bronchial and vocal apparatus, lungs and alimentary canal.

The Throat chakra is about self-expression and talking. When it is open, you have no problems expressing yourself, and you might be doing so as an artist.

One of the most effective alternative colour healing systems is that of the mystical Kabbalah. The Tree of Life is the primary symbol and image for the colour therapy. The Tree of Life diagram consists of ten levels with different colours.

The tree is an ancient symbol and is easily adapted as a metaphor for the human condition of health. Each level controls and directs certain physiological processes of the body.
Chesed – sits on the right hand side and the healing Archangel is Tzadkiel. Blue is the colour and Chesed is the level connected to the body’s ability to detoxify the blood system.
